New Summer Book Club – Literary Secrets!

We are excited to announce that we will start a new book club this summer! We will read 7 books total. The theme is “Literary Secrets. Secrets can wield a tremendous power, not only in our real lives, but in fiction as well. Reading about secrets via novels will allow us to think about who gets to hold secrets, when are they necessary, and when are secrets justified? We’ll read a variety of authors where secrets play different parts in the private and public lives of their characters. Here’s the list of books we’ll be reading:

  1. Nightmare Alley by William Lindsay Gresham (1946)
  2. Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay (1967)
  3. The Moonstone by Wilki Collins (1868)
  4. The Sign of Four by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1890)
  5. The Crying of Lot 49 by Thomas Pynchon (1965)
  6. Permanent Record by Edward Snowden (2019)
  7. Atonement by Ian McEwan (2001)

We couldn’t be more excited. We’ll be joined by new readers, as well as readers that have been around since the first group! Join us, won’t you?
