This book club will pair books together—one a classic novel and the other a contemporary novel. These novels will be paired according to theme, genre, and other characteristics. We will also talk about the contemporary texts and discuss if they have the makings of a classic. Dissecting stylistic and structural choices made by each author, we will talk about the effectiveness of each text and whether it highlights universal themes or resonates with broader issues and ideas.
